A port list is useful only when the physical labels match it.
We agree a naming convention for rooms, outlets, patch fields and building links before work begins. Changes or pre-existing discrepancies are recorded for review.
The person responsible for updating any central inventory or configuration system should also be identified.
Separate completion from unresolved issues
A handover records what has been installed and checked within the agreed scope, along with any limitations or outstanding work.
